George Kruger Gray's life is certainly interesting. I have written a brief outline of his story, including his dramatic rescue from drowning in 1893 off Crosby Beach, when his brother and a friend were tragically drowned. His maternal grandparents must have helped to shape his life. His grandfather was a goldsmith in Bath, so George would have been surrounded by silver and gold fine arts when he visited. His maternal grandmother, who died before he was born, was the noted Victorian artist Fanny/Frances Rosenberg / Mrs J D Harris (her husband's name) and exhibited under various combinations of her names, including at the RCA. Her pictures - still life and flowers - can still sell for four figures.
